World Youth Day - Aboriginal Participation
World Youth Day happens in Australia on July 20th 2008.
The WYD08 Message Stick is an invitation from Sydney Aboriginal Catholic communities as the host, to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth across Australia to join in the celebration of WYD08 on the country of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. The WYD08 Message Stick will accompany the pilgrimage of the World Youth Day Cross and Icon on its journey around the dioceses of Australia and will be used whenever there is Aboriginal participation.
The Aboriginal Catholic Ministry Melbourne, with support from CFAR, is seeking Aboriginal elders and youth to participate in the pilgrimage of the Cross, Icon and Message Stick and is preparing maps linking the traditional
Aboriginal lands at each stop made by the Cross, Icon and Massage Stick.
This site will provide access to these maps and other details as they become available.
